News: Man arrested after fatal car crash in Citrus County

INVERNESS, FL – A woman died and two others were seriously injured in a car crash on US-41 near Inverness Airport early Saturday morning.

Around 1:45 a.m., a 16-year-old Ocala teenager in an SUV was headed south in the northbound lanes of US-41 approaching South Airport Lane. An 18-year-old woman from Inverness was traveling in the opposite direction when the SUV struck her sedan, reports Ocala News.

The sedan’s driver was transported to an area hospital where she died of her injuries. A passenger in her vehicle was seriously injured.

The teenager driving the SUV was also seriously injured. Manuel Alfonzo Villalbazo, 22, was a passenger of the SUV and was arrested and transported to Citrus County Jail.

He faces multiple charges including allowing an unauthorized person to drive, aggravated child abuse, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell or distribute.

Another vehicle that was not directly involved was struck with debris from the accident. The driver and a teenage occupant suffered minor injuries.
