News: New Port Richey bicyclist fatally struck by hit-and-run driver

PASCO COUNTY, FL – State troopers said a driver left the scene of a fatal bicycle accident in Pasco County, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a woman was riding a bicycle Sunday night in the area of Flint Street and Little Road when the incident took place at about 7:30 p.m.  As the bicyclist was headed south on the sidewalk along Little Road, she was involved in a collision with a vehicle going west at Flint Street.

The bicycle rider, a 46-year-old woman from New Port Richey, was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.  A search is underway for the driver of the vehicle, though no description has been released as of yet.

Anyone with further information regarding the hit and run was asked to contact the FHP or Crime Stoppers.
