News: 2 elderly Hernando County residents dead following pickup truck accident

TAMPA, FL – Two elderly Hernando County residents were killed when their vehicle was involved in an accident Sunday morning in Brooksville, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to the Hernando Sun, the two were in a pickup truck heading west on Hayman Road near Batten Road when the incident happened at about 10 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the pickup went off the roadway for an unknown reason, and then crashed into a culvert, a fence and a tree.  The vehicle continued across the travel lanes of the road and ended up on the south shoulder.

The driver, an 82-year-old man, and his passenger, an 85-year-old woman, both were pronounced dead at the scene.  The two were residents of Ridge Manor.
