News: Bicyclist struck, killed by pickup truck on State Road 46

LAKE COUNTY, FL – State troopers are investigating an accident in Lake County that killed a bicycle rider late Friday night.

WOFL reports a bicyclist and the driver of a pickup truck were both headed west on State Road 46 east of Deal Drive at about 10:24 p.m.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the bicyclist was initially riding on the shoulder of the roadway, but began to move in a southwesterly direction and entered the westbound lane.

The bicycle entered the path of the pickup truck and was hit by the truck’s right side.  The bicycle rider, whose identity was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
