News: Collision on U.S. 301 in Orange Heights leaves 1 person dead, 2 injured

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – State troopers and rescue units were at the scene of a fatal wreck in Alachua County on Thursday night.

According to the Gainesville Sun, two vehicles collided on U.S. 301 in the Orange Heights area at about 7:30 p.m.

Three people were seriously injured and taken to an area hospital, where one of the victims was pronounced dead.

Northbound lanes of U.S. 301 were shut down for several hours as the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene along with Alachua County Fire Rescue.  The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the FHP.
