SEMINOLE, FL – The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly motorcycle accident that occurred in Seminole last week, reports WFLA.

The crash happened late Tuesday night in the vicinity of Seminole Boulevard and Bay Pines Boulevard near the Tom Stuart Causeway.

Investigators said the driver of a Yamaha V-Star motorcycle was going south on Seminole Boulevard at a high rate of speed at about 11 p.m.  The motorcycle hit a guardrail and the rider was thrown from his bike.

The victim, identified as 57-year-old James Bartlett Jr., was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The sheriff’s office Major Accident Investigation Team believes speed and impairment were contributing factors in the crash.
