News: Motorcyclist killed in collision with box truck in Hernando County

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a box truck in Hernando County Friday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to the Hernando Sun, the vehicles collided at the intersection of State Road 50 and Medical Center Drive.  The FHP said the box truck driver was headed west in the left turn lane of SR-50 at about 8:43 p.m. when he made a U-turn into the path of an eastbound motorcycle, causing a collision.

The motorcyclist, a 58-year-old man, was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.  The box truck driver, a 52-year-old Spring Hill man, was not injured.
