ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – A collision between a car and a semi-truck in Alachua County last week left one man dead and another injured, reports the Alachua Chronicle.
The fatal wreck occurred early in the morning on July 24 along County Road 235. The Florida Highway Patrol said a man was driving a sedan southbound at about 2:52 a.m. when he crossed the center line into the northbound lane near NW 78th Avenue. The sedan sideswiped a northbound semi-truck, then collided head-on with another semi that was headed north.
The sedan driver, a 34-year-old Trenton man, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt, troopers said.
The driver of the second semi, a 75-year-old suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. The other truck driver, a 62-year-old man, was not injured. Both truck drivers are from Andersonville, Georgia.
