News: Woman on motorcycle dies after collision with SUV in Citrus County

CITRUS COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV in Citrus County recently.

According to WTVT, the crash happened March 3 on US-19 near Cardinal Street shortly after 12:30 p.m.

An investigation by the FHP determined that a 70-year-old Lecanto man was driving a Kia Sorento when he exited onto US-19 from a private driveway.  The SUV entered the path of a Suzuki motorcycle headed north on the roadway.

The motorcycle struck the left side of the Kia and the motorcycle rider, a 30-year-old woman from Holiday, died after being taken to an area hospital.  The Kia driver was not injured.
