LAKE COUNTY, FL – A teenage girl died after the car she was riding in was involved in a collision in Lake County early Saturday morning.

A report by WKMG states that the fatal accident took place on State Road 44 in the area of Tomahawk Trail near DeLand.  The Florida Highway Patrol said that the driver of a 2011 Dodge Ram 15oo pickup truck was heading east at about 4:10 a.m. while a 2015 Dodge Charger sedan was going west, and the vehicles crashed.  The front right side of the pickup truck collided with the front right of the sedan.

A 17-year-old Leesburg girl who was the front right passenger in the Charger was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Charger, an 18-year-old man from Fruitland Park, and two other passengers, an 18-year-old Fruitland Park man and a 17-year-old Leesburg girl, were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

BUSHNELL, FL – Authorities were at the scene of a two-vehicle collision in Lake County Friday morning that left one person dead and another injured, WKMG reports.

The fatal wreck involved a Toyota Camry and a tractor-trailer and occurred west of Bushnell.  The Florida Highway Patrol learned that the driver of the Camry was going east on County Road 48 at about 6 a.m. and crossed over into the westbound lane near SW 75th Drive.  The car collided nearly head-on with the truck as it was traveling west.

The driver of the Toyota, a 70-year-old man, died at the scene.  His passenger, a 37-year-old woman, was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital.  Both were from Dade City.  The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 42-year-old Lehigh Acres man, was not injured.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol was dispatched to a fatal wreck involving a sedan and a semi-truck in Lake County on Thursday night.

A report by WKMG states the crash took place on Florida’s Turnpike near Hancock Road at about 10:15 p.m.  The FHP determined that the driver of a 2025 Hyundai Elantra was heading south on the Turnpike and failed to slow down for a semi that had slowed for traffic ahead of it.  The sedan crashed into the back of the truck.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 22-year-old man, died at the scene.  His passenger, a 23-year-old woman, was hospitalized with serious injuries.  The two occupants of the Hyundai, both from Mobile, Alabama, were not believed to have been wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.

SORRENTO, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly collision that took place in Lake County on Wednesday evening, WKMG reported.

A 2020 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle were involved in the crash, which occurred near Sorrento at about 6 p.m.  According to the FHP’s preliminary investigation, the Chevy driver was going westbound on State Road 46 and made a left turn at 4th Street.  The pickup entered the path of the motorcycle and the vehicles collided.

The motorcycle rider, a 65-year-old man from Sorrento, died at the scene.  The driver of the Chevy, a 49-year-old man from Apopka, was not injured in the wreck and remained at the scene.

UMATILLA, FL – Authorities said a single-vehicle wreck in Lake County on Saturday night claimed the life of a driver.

According to WKMG, the fatal accident took place in the vicinity of County Road 450 and County Road 42 near Umatilla.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of an SUV was heading north on County Road 450 at about 10:30 p.m., failed to stop at a stop sign and proceeded through the intersection.  The vehicle went off the roadway and onto the grass shoulder, then hit a warning sign and a tree.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – Authorities are searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident in Lake County Thursday night, May 8, Fox35 Orlando reports.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on U.S. 27 near Citrus Grove Road at about 10:44 p.m., where the rider of a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle was stopped at a traffic light in the inside southbound lane.

As the light turned green and the motorcyclist proceeded through the intersection, a 2024 Honda HR-V behind it swerved to avoid another vehicle.  The driver of a southbound 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe failed to slow down and hit the motorcycle from behind, then collided with the Honda, and fled the scene.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol was dispatched to a fatal collision involving a bicycle and a pickup truck in Lake County.

According to WKMG, the accident took place Sunday evening on County Road 473 near Fountain Lake Boulevard.  The FHP’s crash investigation indicated that a 69-year-old Eustis man was riding a bicycle north on the southbound outside shoulder of County Road 473 at about 6:30 p.m.

The bicyclist swerved into the path of a southbound Toyota Tacoma driven by 61-year-old man from Leesburg, and the front of the pickup collided with the bicycle.  The bicyclist died at the scene.  The Toyota driver was not injured and stayed at the scene.

TAVARES, FL – A driver died Tuesday morning after his vehicle was involved in an accident in Lake County, police said.

According to Inside Lake, the single-vehicle wreck occurred in the vicinity of State Road 19 at South Eichelberger Road in Tavares.

A passerby notified police shortly before 6 a.m. that a 2020 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck had crashed at that location.  A preliminary investigation by the Tavares Police Department indicated that the driver had been heading south on State Road 19 when the pickup went off the roadway and collided with a tree.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – A wrong-way driver was involved in a fatal collision in Lake County on Wednesday night, according to a WKMG report.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a 2017 Dodge Charger was going south in the northbound lane of U.S. 27 in the vicinity of Adkins Lane near Groveland at about 9:50 p.m.

The Dodge crashed into a northbound 2017 Toyota Corolla, then struck another northbound vehicle, a 2016 Jeep Renegade.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – Authorities were dispatched to a fatal pedestrian collision in Lake County on Tuesday morning, WKMG reported.

The Florida Highway Patrol stated that a person was struck by a vehicle at about 5:55 a.m. near the intersection of Lake Mack Drive and Inez Street, just west of DeLand.  No details have been released on the identity of the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Road closures were in effect in the area while the FHP investigated the incident.
