DUNNELLON, FL – One person was killed and nine others injured in a multi-vehicle collision in Marion County on Saturday morning, WKMG reported.

The Florida Highway Patrol said three sport utility vehicles were involved in the crash that happened near the intersection of County Highwa7 484 and SW 170th east of Dunnellon.

According to the FHP, the driver of an SUV was headed west on County Highway 484 at about 10:30 a.m. and entered the eastbound lanes, colliding with another SUV. The impact caused the second vehicle to go off the road and into a ditch, where it overturned.

The first vehicle then struck a third SUV, causing both to leave the roadway and go into a ditch.  The driver of the first SUV, a 74-year-old man from Ocala, was pronounced dead at the scene.  A passenger, a 71-year-old Ocala woman, was critically injured.

The driver and two passengers in the second SUV sustained minor injuries.

Five people were in the third SUV.  One passenger, a 30-year-old woman, was critically injured.  An 8-year-old passenger was seriously injured, while the driver and two other passengers sustained minor injuries.

County Road 484 was shut down for about five hours for the crash response and investigation.
