News: 15 taken to hospital following multi-vehicle crash at Marion County intersection

MARION COUNTY, FL – A multi-vehicle collision in Marion County Tuesday morning sent 15 people to the hospital, officials said.

A Facebook post by Marion County Fire Rescue stated that crews were dispatched to the scene at the intersection of SW 90th Street and SW 80th Avenue shortly before 9 a.m.

The crash involved a MCFR Rescue vehicle, a pickup truck, and a small bus. Multiple 911 callers reported that the rescue vehicle was hit and rolled over on its side while responding to a medical call.

Firefighters arrived and immediately began triaging the patients in all three vehicles. The injured victims were transported to area hospitals, including two firefighters, 11 special needs students on the bus, the driver of the bus and the driver of the pickup truck.

Eight of the students were transported as a precaution while three had minor injuries. The two MCFR firefighters were transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
