News: 2 seriously injured in T-bone style collision in Alachua County

WALDO, FL – Two people were seriously injured in a collision in Alachua County on Thursday afternoon, officials said.

According to the Alachua Chronicle, firefighters were headed to a separate incident at about 4:15 p.m. when they saw a column of black smoke rising on US Highway 301.

Alachua County Fire Rescue Engine 40 arrived to find that two vehicles had been involved in a T-bone style collision at the intersection of US 301 and NE County Road 225, with one of the vehicles engulfed in flames.

The two injured victims were taken to an area trauma center.  No details were released on their conditions.  The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

Following the crash, Alachua County Fire Rescue reminded drivers to move over and slow down for emergency vehicles stopped at the scene of an incident on the roadways.
