News: Spring Hill woman dies following 2-vehicle crash on SR-50

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said two vehicles were involved in a fatal crash on State Road 50 in Hernando County early Monday morning.

According to The Free Press, the incident happened east of Mckinney Sink Road at about 2:19 a.m.  Investigators believe that a 63-year-old Spring Hill man was driving a van westbound on SR-50 when he entered the eastbound lane for an unknown reason.

The van crashed nearly head-on into a car driven eastbound by a 22-year-old woman from Spring Hill, causing both vehicles to rotate to a stop.

The woman, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.  No other injuries were mentioned in the report.
