News: 3 dead following collision involving SUV and dump truck in Lake County

GROVELAND, FL – A collision between two vehicles in Lake County on Tuesday afternoon left three people dead, reports the Leesburg News.

The Florida Highway Patrol released details of the incident that occurred in the area of County Road 33 and Bridges Road in Groveland at about 2 p.m.

According to state troopers, the driver of a 2018 Ford Explorer SUV was headed east on Bridges Road and pulled directly into the path of a dump truck.

The two vehicles both went off the roadway and ended up in the treeline. The three occupants of the SUV were all pronounced dead at the scene.  They were the driver, a 47-year-old man from Grand Island, and his two passengers, a 35-year-old Longwood woman and a 32-year-old Orlando woman.

The driver of the dump truck, a 63-year-old man from Mount Vernon, Maine, was not injured.  He stayed at the scene while authorities were investigating the wreck.
