PASCO COUNTY, FL – A collision in Pasco County on Wednesday afternoon left eight people injured, including six children, according to a WFLA report.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the two-vehicle crash took place at the intersection of U.S. 19 and State Road 52 near Hudson. The FHP’s investigation found that the driver of a Nissan Cube was going north on U.S. 19 shortly after 11:30 a.m. and did not stop for a red light. The Nissan collided with another vehicle making a turn onto State Road 52, and the impact caused the Nissan to overturn.
Six children riding in the Nissan, between the ages of 5 and 9, were thrown onto the roadway. They were transported to area hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening. The driver of the Nissan, a 33-year-old woman, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. The driver of the second vehicle, a 42-year-old man from Hudson, suffered minor injuries.
Authorities shut down a portion of U.S. 19 while the accident was being cleared and investigated.
