HOLIDAY, FL – A physical education teacher was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of Anclote High School Thursday morning.

Ciara McKeon, 28, was struck by a driver in an SUV at the back of the school’s parking lot near the gymnasium, reports WTSP. Emergency crews arrived at the school on Sweetbriar Drive around 7 a.m. They found McKeon pinned underneath the vehicle with serious injuries.

She was transported to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition.

The driver that hit the victim is a 24-year-old Clearwater man. He claims he did not see McKeon in the parking lot when he crashed into her.

McKeon has been teaching PE at the school for two years and also serves as the girl’s tennis coach. Students and staff are hopeful for her recovery.
