News: Bicyclist, 83, killed in collision with vehicle in Pasco County

PASCO COUNTY, FL – State troopers said an accident in Pasco County on Sunday morning claimed the life of an elderly bicycle rider.

According to WFLA, the accident took place on the Withlacoochee State Trail at Trilby Road near Dade City at about 11 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the victim was an 83-year-old man from Zephyrhills. The FHP determined that the man was riding his bicycle on the bike trail when he passed a stop sign, entered the intersection, and struck the front right side of an oncoming Honda Odyssey.  The bicyclist, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.

The driver of the Odyssey was a 20-year-old woman from Dade City.
