News: Driver charged with DUI in Ocala crash that killed bicyclist

OCALA, FL – A woman has been arrested following a crash in Ocala on Sunday that left a bicycle rider dead, WESH reports.

The incident happened on the 3100 block of NW Blitchton Road near Interstate 75.  According to the Ocala Police Department, a woman driving a Mini Cooper veered off the roadway and hit a man who was riding a bicycle on the sidewalk.  The bicyclist, 61-year-old Louis Osiel, was killed.

Police said the driver, identified as 43-year-old Elizabeth Pizzonia, left the scene after the accident but returned later showing indications of impairment.

She later called authorities and was subsequently arrested on charges of DUI manslaughter and leaving the scene of a crash with death.
