OCALA, FL – A woman has passed away from injuries suffered when she was hit by a vehicle in Ocala earlier this month, reports the Ocala StarBanner.

The incident occurred Oct. 4 in the area of State Road 200 and Southwest 46th Court at about 1115 p.m.   The victim was identified as 38-year-old Sheriko Hiroko Johnson of Jacksonville.

According to police, Johnson had been involved in a crash earlier that day on Interstate 75 and had been treated and released from HCA Florida West Marion Hospital for treatment.

OCALA, FL – Ocala Fire Rescue said its crews responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 northbound on Thursday afternoon.

According to a Facebook post at 2:28 p.m., the wreck occurred near mile marker 352 and involved a box truck, a compact SUV and a small dump truck.

Rescuers used extrication tools to free the box truck driver who had been trapped inside the vehicle.  That driver and a passenger in the SUV were taken to an area hospital as trauma alerts.  The drivers of the SUV and the dump truck were also transported for evaluation.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A collision at an intersection in Marion County Wednesday night left both drivers dead, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Ocala StarBanner reports authorities were called to the scene in the vicinity of U.S. 27 and Northwest 60th Avenue at about 8:24 p.m.  The FHP’s investigation determined that a Honda Civic collided with a Toyota Highlander SUV.

The Honda was heading east on U.S. 27 while the Toyota was going in the opposite direction and entered the left turn lane to turn onto 60th Avenue when the vehicles crashed.  Both drivers had the green light at the time, state troopers said.  Witnesses said the driver of the Toyota violated the Honda’s right-of-way and entered the vehicle’s path.

OCALA, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol and emergency crews were called to the scene of a truck accident in Marion County on Friday morning.

According to WKMG, the crash involved a tractor-trailer and took place on State Road 326 near Interstate 75 near Ocala shortly before 8:46 a.m.

It resulted in a spill of 150 gallons of fuel onto the roadway.  A portion of State Road 326 was shut down while the wreck was being cleared and the spill cleaned up.  There was no immediate word on whether anyone was injured.

OCALA, FL – Rescue teams extricated three people who were trapped after a multi-vehicle crash in Ocala last Wednesday morning.

According to Ocala Fire Rescue, crews were dispatched to the accident involving two sedans and an SUV at NE 24th Street and NE 19th Avenue at about 8:16 a.m.  A caller reported one of the vehicles was on its side with the occupants inside.

OFR units arrived to find that the drivers of a Toyota Camry and an Audi A8L were able to get out of their vehicles on their own.  No one else was inside the cars.

OCALA, FL – Emergency crews were on the scene of a crash that snarled traffic in Ocala during Tuesday morning’s rush hour, according to the Ocala News.

Two vehicles were involved in the collision shortly before 8 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 near the exit for W State Road 40/W Silver Springs Boulevard.  One person was taken to an area hospital to be evaluated.

As a result of the crash, the middle lane was blocked and traffic was backed up for several miles beyond mile marker 348.  One of the vehicles was moved off to the shoulder, and the interstate reopened later in the morning.

OCALA, FL – A car and a tractor-trailer were involved in a fatal collision in Ocala on Sunday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

WCJB reports the incident occurred on Interstate 75 southbound near mile marker 359, where troopers were called to the scene at about 4 p.m.

According to the FHP, the driver of a Dodge Challenger crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer that was disabled in the emergency lane of the interstate.  The Dodge driver, a 27-year-old Gainesville man, was declared dead at the scene.  No one else was in the vehicle at the time.

MARION COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a driver has been cited for an accident involving a school bus in Marion County last Wednesday morning, reports the Ocala StarBanner.

This is an update to a previous story.

The bus was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of SW 31st Avenue Road and Marion Oaks Trail at about 8 a.m.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A driver attempting to flee from law enforcement authorities was involved in a crash in Ocala on Sunday, WCJB reports.

Police said the incident began when deputies attempted a traffic stop on the driver of a stolen Jeep Cherokee in Silver Springs Shore.  The driver, identified as 24-year-old Jah’Kudo Gibbons, reportedly pulled into a gas station before speeding away on Southeast Maricamp Road heading towards Ocala.

Deputies set out in pursuit in what became a high-speed chase, with Gibbons said to have been driving at speeds of over 100 miles per hour.

OCALA, FL – Two people were injured in a crash involving a fleeing motorcyclist in Ocala last week, police said.

In a Facebook post, the Ocala Police Department said one of its detectives initiated a traffic stop on a motorcycle rider near a convenience store on N Pine Avenue on June 11 at about 11:15 p.m.

The motorcyclist failed to comply with the stop and fled, then went through a red light at the intersection of N Pine Avenue and NW 10th Street.  The motorcycle collided with a Marion County government pickup truck going south.
