SUMMERFIELD, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred earlier this month in Summerfield, the Villages-News reports.
The incident occurred June 8 along northbound U.S. 301 near SE 169th Street in Summerfield. According to the FHP, an 81-year-old woman was walking westbound on the highway near the Shady Oaks 55+ Mobile Home Park at about 1:30 a.m. and was hit by a Hyundai Elantra. The pedestrian, a Summerfield resident, died at the scene.
The driver of the Hyundai was a 24-year-old woman from Ocala.
