BROOKSVILLE, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a man was killed in a crash involving a stolen car in Hernando County last week.

According to WTVT, the incident began when the 29-year-old man, driving a GMC Sierra, lost control on State Road 50 and struck a traffic median barrier.

When another driver, a 35-year-old woman, stopped to help him, state troopers say the man stole her car.

A short time later, he crossed a median on State Road 50 near Hartness Drive and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer.  The stolen car driver, a Dade City man, was killed in the wreck.  The truck driver, a 45-year-old man from Plant City, suffered minor injuries.
