SUMTER COUNTY, FL – One person was killed and four others injured in a collision in Sumter County Wednesday evening, reports the Villages-News.

The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the scene on State Road 471 in the vicinity of State Road 50 near Tarrytown.  An investigation by state troopers found that a man driving a Ford Focus south at about 7 p.m. lost control of the vehicle and crossed over the center line.  The Focus crashed into a Nissan Rogue headed northbound on State Rod 471, causing both vehicles to overturn.

The driver of the Focus, a 37-year-old man from Floral City, died at the scene.  He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Rogue driver, a 27-year-old woman from Gaylesville, Alabama, two adult male passengers and a 4-year-old boy, all sustained minor injuries.
