News: Man struck, killed while riding motorized bicycle near Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, FL – A man was killed when he was hit by a vehilce while riding a motorized bicycle northeast of Gainesville on Monday morning.

According to Main St. Daily News, a 28-year-old Starke man was riding the bike on the shoulder of State Route 24 near NE 127th Street when he was hit by 1998-2004 era Ford pickup or a 2000-04 Ford Excursion.

The victim was ejected from the bicycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle initially fled, but was located on Tuesday. He has since been identified as a 55-year-old man.
