News: Motorcyclist, 36, dies after colliding with car on Interstate 75

MARION COUNTY, FL – An accident in Marion County on Monday afternoon left a motorcyclist dead, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A report by the Ocala News said the accident happened as the motorcyclist was driving along Interstate 75 shortly before 5 p.m.  State troopers said the man was going at a high rate of speed near mile marker 372 when he collided with the back of a sedan and lost control of the bike.

The motorcyclist, a 36-year-old Reddick man, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the sedan, a 20-year-old man from Fort Myers, was not injured.

The FHP, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and Marion County Fire Rescue responded to the wreck, which remains under investigation.
