HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – A multi-vehicle crash disrupted traffic along a stretch of Interstate 75 in Hernando County during Tuesday morning’s commute.

Pasco News Online reports the collision occurred on I-75 south near mile post 294 at about 5:45 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol stated that a Toyota Camry heading south crashed into the back of a trailer being towed by a Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck that was going at slow speed.

A southbound tractor-trailer then collided with the Camry, causing the tractor-trailer to go onto the outside shoulder of the interstate where it hit a guardrail, and overturned.  The Camry driver, a 25-year-old Dade City woman, was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.  The Ram driver, a 23-year-old Bainbridge, Georgia man, and the tractor-trailer driver, a 54-year-old man from Alachua, were not injured.

The southbound lanes of I-75 were shut down for several hours during the accident response.  The cause of the initial crash remains under investigation.
