News: Woman struck, killed by SUV on U.S. 19 in Pasco County

PASCO COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a pedestrian accident in Pasco County Saturday night claimed the life of a 40-year-old woman.

According to a report in the Tampa Bay Times, the woman was walking west across U.S. 19 near New York Avenue at about 10:50 p.m. when she was struck by a southbound sport utility vehicle.

The victim, a resident of Riverview, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the SUV, a 20-year-old man from Hudson, and his 21-year-old passenger were not injured.  Both were wearing seat belts.

The FHP is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
