News: 2 killed, 1 injured in 2-car crash in Wesley Chapel

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – Two people were killed and a third was injured when their vehicles collided on SR-56 in Wesley Chapel yesterday, WTSP reports.

The fatal collision comes just a day after another serious crash took place about two miles east on the same road.

A 52-year-old man attempted to turn left from SR-56 onto Lajuana Boulevard at about 3 p.m. yesterday and was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The man and his 56-year-old female passenger were both thrown from the vehicle, and were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither had been wearing a seatbelt.

The 17-year-old driver of the other vehicle was seriously injured. His current condition is unknown.

Investigations are being conducted by the Florida Highway Patrol.
