MARION COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a school bus accident in Marion County left four children injured last week.

WFTV reports details of the crash that occurred Friday afternoon on County Road 463 near SE 55th Place at about 3:06 p.m.

According to the FHP’s investigation, the 62-year-old driver of the school bus was going west when traffic ahead came to an abrupt stop.  The driver, an Ocala woman, attempted to avoid those cars by steering into a grassy area, where the bus overturned onto its left side.

Of the 18 children on the bus at the time, four were transported to Advent Health of Ocala for treatment.

The bus reportedly was used for a private day care facility.
