News: Bicycle rider fatally struck by vehicle on County Road 54 in Zephyrhills

ZEPHYRHILLS, FL – An accident in Pasco County Wednesday morning left a bicycle rider dead, according to a report by WFLA.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the incident occurred on County Road 54 in Zephyrhills, where the bicyclist and a Toyota Sienna van were both travelling eastbound in the early morning hours.

As they approached 16th Street, the bicycle was hit from behind by the Toyota and the bicycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene.  He was identified as a 28-year-old St. Petersburg man.

The van driver was a 25-year-old Zephyrhills man.  The FHP said the driver could not see the bicyclist, who had no lights on his bike.
