News: Elderly woman dies after being hit by 2 vehicles on Leesburg roadway

LEESBURG, FL – Police said an elderly pedestrian was killed in an accident in Leesburg on Christmas night.

WKMG reports the victim was identified as 80-year-old Gladys Lopez.  She was walking across the intersection of Dixie Avenue and Euclid Avenue when the incident took place at about 7:44 p.m.

According to investigators, Lopez was struck by a Kia sedan going east on Dixie Avenue in the right lane, then was hit again by another eastbound vehicle, a Hyundai sedan.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two drivers involved have been identified by police, though there was no immediate word on whether any charges would be filed in the case.
