BROOKSVILLE, FL – A car and a tractor-trailer were involved in a fatal collision in Hernando County last week, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to WFTS, a 38-year-old Brooksville man was driving a sedan west on SR-50 when the incident took place Wednesday night at about 11:15 p.m.  State troopers said the driver of a tractor-trailer was heading east on SR-50, made a U-turn at the intersection with Hale Avenue, and entered the path of the sedan.

The sedan collided with the trailer being towed by the semi.  The sedan driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The semi driver, a 62-year-old Brooksville man, was not injured.
