News: Collision involving SUV and RV in Lake County kills 1, injures 3

CLERMONT, FL – A collision between two vehicles in Lake County early Sunday morning left one person dead and three others injured, WESH reports.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a man was driving an SUV westbound on County Road 474 in Clermont when the incident happened at about 3 a.m.  State troopers said the SUV driver made a wide right turn onto State Road 33, crossed over the middle line and struck the front of an RV going south on State Road 33.

The SUV driver, a 35-year-old man from Miami Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Three people in the RV, ages 54, 51 and 48, were hospitalized with minor injuries.

The intersection was shut down for hours while the FHP was responding to the crash scene.

FHP closed down the intersection for hours while the wreckage was being cleared.
