News: Driver dies after colliding with parked Amazon truck on I-75

by

OCALA, FL – A car and an Amazon truck were involved in a deadly collision in Marion County on Wednesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Ocala StarBanner reported details of the wreck, which occurred on Interstate 75 northbound near the exit for State Road 326.

The FHP’s investigation found that the incident began when the driver of an Amazon semitractor-trailer struck the back of a vehicle slowing in front of him.  The truck driver pulled over and stopped on the emergency shoulder.

According to a witness, the driver of a Buick Cascada was driving recklessly and crashed into the back of the Amazon truck.  The Buick driver, a 27-year-old Marion Oaks woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the semi was not injured.

The accident caused traffic delays on I-75 northbound and side roads in the area.  State troopers were assisted at the scene by Marion County Fire Rescue crews.
