News: Driver sought in death of bicyclist in Gainesville hit-and-run

GAINESVILLE, FL – Police in Gainesville are searching for the driver responsible for a crash that killed a bicycle rider, according to a report by WGFL.

The bicyclist, a male, was struck from behind by a vehicle while riding south on the 3300 block of South Main Street.  The driver involved then left the scene.

The Gainesville Police Department said that based on debris found in the roadway, the vehicle they are now looking for is a silver Volvo, either a sedan or an SUV.  Evidence indicated the driver may have been going about 45 miles per hour at the time of the collision.
