NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – A search is underway for a hit-and-run driver who struck a teenager in Pasco County recently.

According to the Tampa Free Press, the victim was a 14-year-old boy who was walking along the shoulder of Fargo Drive Sept. 18 just after 7 p.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of an eastbound Ford F-150 pickup truck lost control of the vehicle on Fargo Drive near Overhill Drive, drove off the roadway and hit the teen. The crash left the boy seriously injured.

Troopers said the driver of the Ford stopped briefly, then fled the scene of the incident. The FHP is asking for the public’s help in identifying the hit-and-run driver and asked anyone with information to contact them.
