SUMTER CO., FL – A multi-vehicle collision near Bushnell last Friday night claimed the lives of two people, WESH reports.

The crash took place at about 7 p.m. on County Road 48 near the intersection with Southeast 10th Street.

Investigators say the driver of an eastbound SUV lost control while navigating a curve, over corrected, and collided nearly head-on with a westbound sedan. The SUV then hit two additional westbound vehicles, causing the driver to be ejected.

The driver of the SUV, 30-year-old man from Bushnell, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the sedan that was hit first, a 19-year-old woman, also suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

The two other drivers involved sustained serious injuries.
