LEESBURG, FL – A Leesburg man is facing charges over a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred last month, according to the Villages-News.

59-year-old Lloyd Douglas Walters has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash, driving under the influence manslaughter, and no valid driver’s license.

Authorities said Walters was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee west on State Road 44 near Morse Boulevard when he changed lanes and collided with a westbound Suzuki motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, a 51-year-old man from Kissimmee, was thrown from the bike and died later at an area hospital.

Walters allegedly left the scene of the crash and was apprehended later that night in The Villages by Sumter County Sheriff’s Deputies.  He was booked into the Sumter County Detention Center on $750,000 bond.
