News: Man in wheelchair dies after being hit by vehicles on US 19

PASCO COUNTY, FL – An accident claimed the life of a man in a wheelchair as he was crossing a roadway in Pasco County, authorities said.

According to The Free Press, the incident took place Tuesday night on US 19 at about 9:24 p.m. The Florida Highway Patrol said a 42-year-old man was going east across the highway near Flora Avenue in a nonmotorized wheelchair when he entered the path of two southbound vehicles.

The man was hit by a Dodge Durango, then was struck again by a Tesla Model 3 that was not in its autopilot mode.

The victim, a resident of Holiday, was pronounced dead of his injuries after being taken to an area hospital.
