News: Motorcycle and pickup involved in fatal collision in Ocala

OCALA, FL – Ocala police are investigating an accident last week that left a motorcycle rider dead, the Ocala StarBanner reports.

The crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck occurred on Southwest 19th Avenue Road near 24th Avenue Tuesday night at about 8 p.m.

Investigators said the driver of a Ford F-150 pickup truck was headed east on Southwest 19th Avenue Road and entered the left lane to turn into a driveway for shopping and restaurants. The operator of a Suzuki motorcycle was going west in an inside lane and the vehicles collided, with the bike ending up underneath the pickup.

The motorcycle rider died after being taken to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, and was identified as 29-year-old Jesus Bonilla of Ocala. The driver of the pickup, a 25-year-old man whose name was not released, was hospitalized with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Southwest 19th Avenue Road was shut down to traffic for the crash investigation.
