CITRUS COUNTY, FL – Two people were injured in a collision involving two motorcycles in Citrus County on Sunday morning, state troopers said.

According to the Citrus Chronicle, the crash occurred on U.S. 19 near West Ponce De Leon Boulevard near the Hernando County border at about 11:35 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a man driving northbound on a Spyder motorcycle veered between lanes before crashing into the back of a Harley Davidson Tristar motorcycle also going north, causing the Spyder to overturn.  Witnesses had seen the Spyder driver trying to avoid debris in the roadway.

INVERNESS, FL – State troopers said a suspected drunk driver was involved in an accident in Citrus County that injured two people, WTVT reports.

The two victims were on a motorcycle on US 41 in Inverness Saturday night when the crash occurred near East Tower Road at about 10:40 p.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a man driving under the influence was attempting to make a left turn into a parking lot from the highway when he entered the path of the motorcycle.  The vehicles collided and a 37-year-old man and 35-year-old woman were thrown from the motorcycle onto the roadway.  Both were seriously injured.

CITRUS COUNTY, FL – Three people suffered severe injuries after a collision between two pickup trucks in Citrus County last Tuesday.

According to the Citrus County Chronicle, the collision happened on March 15 as a 48-year-old man was driving a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with his 10-year-old in the back seat. They were headed east on West Grover Cleveland Boulevard near South Peasant Point.

An oncoming driver in a Ford Ranger, a 28-year-old Homassassa man, was approaching the same intersection.

CITRUS COUNTY, FL – A Spring hill man was killed after a crash on his motorcycle in Citrus County Tuesday night.

According to The Free Press, the man was operating a motorcycle on US-19 southbound north of Cardinal Street when he slowed or stopped in the roadway.

A 68-year-old Homosassa woman rear-ended the motorcycle, ejecting the man into the roadway. Two separate drivers in a pickup and SUV then struck the man while trying to avoid the collision.

CRYSTAL RIVER, FL – A man on a motorcycle sustained serious injuries after crashing with a minivan in Crystal River Wednesday afternoon.

A 28-year-old man was riding a Suzuki GSX-R600 westbound on  State Road 44 just west of North Pennsylvania Avenue. At the same time, a Lecanto man, 85, was traveling in a Dodge Grand Caravan westbound on State Road 44

The driver of the Dodge made a U-turn into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle’s operator slammed into the left side of the minivan, reports the Citrus County Chronicle.

CITRUS HILLS, FL – A driver and one child were injured following a crash between a car and a school bus in Citrus County Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Citrus County Chronicle, a man in a Toyota Venza ran a red light at County Road 486 and North Annapolis Avenue when he struck the left side of the school bus.

The man, a 33-year-old Hernando resident, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

FLORAL CITY, FL – One person sustained injuries after a fire in Citrus County on Saturday, reports the Citrus County Chronicle.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of a 90-foot by 70-foot pole barn engulfed in flames off of East Haines Court. It took crews a little over two hours to extinguish the blaze.

The property owner said they noticed a fire had started around a flatbed truck with a 1,000-gallon diesel tank. A camper van and John Deer backhoe also caught fire.

CITRUS COUNTY, FL – A man was killed and two others were injured in a multi-vehicle car crash near Lecanto Thursday morning.

The crash happened around 11 a.m. on State Road 44 near the intersection with South Salisbury Terrace, reports the Citrus County Chronicle. 

A driver in a pickup truck towing a trailer was passing a passenger bus on SR-44 when it crashed into the right side of the bus. The truck then crossed the median and struck a traffic sign. After impact, the sign flew and crashed into the window of a westbound van and was then struck by the pickup.

INVERNESS, FL – A woman died and two others were seriously injured in a car crash on US-41 near Inverness Airport early Saturday morning.

Around 1:45 a.m., a 16-year-old Ocala teenager in an SUV was headed south in the northbound lanes of US-41 approaching South Airport Lane. An 18-year-old woman from Inverness was traveling in the opposite direction when the SUV struck her sedan, reports Ocala News.

The sedan’s driver was transported to an area hospital where she died of her injuries. A passenger in her vehicle was seriously injured.
