News: 80-year-old man killed in Sumter County motorcycle accident

SUMTER COUNTY, FL – State troopers said an elderly man died after his motorcycle was involved in an accident in Sumter County.

According to a report by the Villages-News, the accident happened Saturday morning in the area of County Road 673 and County Road 683D in Bushnell.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the 80-year-old motorcyclist was riding near the Sumter Oaks Escapees RV Park at about 7:25 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve and went off the roadway, causing the motorcycle to overturn.

The motorcyclist, a Bushnell resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released. The FHP said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
