News: Hit-and-run driver sought in connection with fatal crash on State Road 40

OCALA, FL – Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred early Saturday morning in Ocala, WKMG reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a man was standing in an outside lane of State Road 40 near SW 57th Avenue at about 5 a.m. when he was hit by a vehicle.

The victim, a 29-year-old Ocala resident, died at the scene.  The FHP is now trying to track down the driver and the vehicle involved in the crash.

State troopers said the vehicle was believed to be a dark gray sedan with damage to its front right side.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol or Crime Stoppers of Marion County.
