News: Ocala man dies following car accident in Marion County

OCALA, FL – A single-vehicle accident in Marion County Wednesday morning left a driver dead, WKMG reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a man was driving south on Interstate 75 near mile marker 346 in Ocala when the crash occurred at about 2:50 a.m.

An investigation determined that the driver was going at a high rate of speed in his SUV when he went off the roadway and collided with a guardrail in the median.  The vehicle went back into the roadway and overturned, and the driver was ejected.  The victim, a 26-year-old man from Ocala, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Authorities did not disclose his identity.

I-75 south was shut down for several hours while the wreck was being cleared and investigated.
