OCALA, FL – A series of crashes resulted in closures of portions of US 441 in Marion County on Thursday night, WCJB reported.

The Florida Highway Patrol said there were three separate accidents on the southbound stretch of the highway between Ocala and Belleview.  According to the FHP, one of the incidents caused serious injuries but no information was immediately released on who had been injured.

US 441 south was closed near Southeast 73rd Street while authorities and emergency crews responded to the scene of each wreck.

MARION COUNTY, FL – State troopers have announced an arrest in the case of a hit-and-run crash in Marion County last month.

According to a WOFL report, 23-year-old Jacob Carmack of Ocala is facing charges over the incident that occurred Nov. 18 on State Road 200.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Carmack was driving a Ford Mustang and street racing with a Chevrolet Corvette.  Authorities said the vehicles were speeding and being driven recklessly when the Corvette struck a Toyota Prius near SW 80th Street.  The Corvette went off the road and struck a utility pole and tree.  The driver, a 38-year-old Ocala man, was seriously injured.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A multi-vehicle collision in Marion County Tuesday morning sent 15 people to the hospital, officials said.

A Facebook post by Marion County Fire Rescue stated that crews were dispatched to the scene at the intersection of SW 90th Street and SW 80th Avenue shortly before 9 a.m.

The crash involved a MCFR Rescue vehicle, a pickup truck, and a small bus. Multiple 911 callers reported that the rescue vehicle was hit and rolled over on its side while responding to a medical call.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A driver was hospitalized after a car accident in Marion County on Saturday morning, officials said.

According to a Facebook post by Marion County Fire Rescue, crews were dispatched to the intersection of State Highway 200 and SW 80th Street at about 8:24 a.m.

Callers to 911 reported that  a white Corvette had gone off the road, clipped a power pole and broken apart.  First responders arrived to find the car in pieces and power lines hanging low.  The driver was transported to an area hospital as a trauma alert, but no further details were provided on the person’s condition.

MARION COUNTY, FL – One person was killed and another was arrested after a car accident Thursday night in Marion County, according to the Ocala StarBanner.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash on Interstate 75 south near the exit for County Road 326.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a Honda Civic was headed south on I-75 when the vehicle hydroplaned on the wet pavement.  The driver lost control of the car which went off the roadway, crashed into a guardrail, returned to the road, and was struck by a rental Nissan Armanda sport utility vehicle going south.  The impact caused the SUV to overturn.

MARION COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred in Marion County on Sunday morning.

According to a WESH report, a man was walking in the right lane of Interstate 75 south of Ocala at about 5 a.m. when he was struck and killed by a northbound vehicle.  The victim was a 41-year-old man from Clearwater.

The driver involved left the scene of the crash.  No description of the vehicle was immediately released.

OCALA, FL – A collision in Marion County on Tuesday morning sent one of the drivers to the hospital, rescue officials said.

According to a Facebook post, Marion County Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene of the crash shortly after 11 a.m.  It happened at the intersection of SE 174th Court and State Road 40 East, where an Amazon tractor-trailer collided with a Chrysler Town & Country minivan.

The Ocala StarBanner reports the minivan driver was driving erratically while going west on SR 40.  The Florida Highway Patrol said the van crossed over the double yellow line and hit the tractor-trailer, which went off the roadway and into a ditch.

GAINESVILLE, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a man riding a bicycle was struck and killed early Wednesday morning by a Marion County Sheriff’s deputy’s vehicle, according to the Ocala Star-Banner.

The accident happened on State Road 200 just east of SW 80 Avenue just before 3:30 a.m.

The FHP said the bicyclist and the marked sheriff’s SUV were both going east on the roadway.  The deputy did not see the bicyclist and struck the bike from behind.   The rider, a 63-year-old Gainesville man, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The deputy stopped after the incident.

MARION COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a school bus accident in Marion County left four children injured last week.

WFTV reports details of the crash that occurred Friday afternoon on County Road 463 near SE 55th Place at about 3:06 p.m.

According to the FHP’s investigation, the 62-year-old driver of the school bus was going west when traffic ahead came to an abrupt stop.  The driver, an Ocala woman, attempted to avoid those cars by steering into a grassy area, where the bus overturned onto its left side.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A teenage girl was injured after being struck by a car in Marion County, and a search is continuing for the driver involved.

The Ocala News reports the incident happened Sept. 11 on State Road 40 near SW 185th Road at about 10:05 p.m.  According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 15-year-old victim was walking her dog on the southbound paved shoulder of the roadway when she was struck by a vehicle that traveled onto the shoulder.

An investigation indicated that the driver stopped briefly on the shoulder but then left the scene without providing any help or information.
