MARION COUNTY, FL – Authorities said a car accident in Marion County Monday morning left a woman dead and a toddler critically injured.

The crash happened near the intersection of County Road 318 and U.S. Highway 441, according to Ocala News.com. An investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol determined that a 44-year-old Citra woman was driving east in a sedan on County Road 318 at about 7:40 a.m. when she veered left into the oncoming lane.

The sedan veered directly into the path of an SUV going west on County Road 318 and the vehicles collided head-on.  The sedan driver died at the scene, while a 2-year-old boy riding in her vehicle was listed in critical condition at UF Health Shands Hospital.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A multi-vehicle accident in Marion County Wednesday left two people injured and slowed afternoon traffic, Ocala News.com reports.

Ocala Fire Rescue responded to the scene on Interstate 75 northbound near mile marker 351.  Two people were taken to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The wreck shut down the right lane of I-75 north, causing major delays.  Traffic on I-75 was reported to be backed up beyond mile marker 343, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

MARION COUNTY, FL – State troopers said a rollover accident in Marion County early Monday morning left a driver dead.

According to WKMG, the crash happened as a 22-year-old man was driving an SUV on Marion Oaks Manor near SW 70th Avenue Road at about 12:40 a.m.  The Florida Highway Patrol said the man drove at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle while going around a curve.

The SUV went off the roadway and hit a mailbox before overturning several times.  The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and pinned under the SUV.  The victim, an Indianapolis resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

DUNNELLON, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a Marion County school bus was struck by a car on Monday afternoon.

A report by Ocala-News.com states that the accident happened in the area of US. Highway 41 and SW 86th Street in Dunnellon at about 4:20 p.m.

According to the FHP, a 41-year-old Naples woman was driving a sedan east on SW 86th Street when she crossed the center to avoid a disabled vehicle in the roadway.  The side of the woman’s sedan hit the driver’s side of the bus, which was carrying 43 students.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A moped rider was injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Marion County early Wednesday morning, state troopers said.

A report by WGFL stated that the incident took place on U.S. 441 near Southeast 73rd Street at about midnight.  According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a person riding an orange moped was struck at that location by a black Cadillac sedan.  The moped rider was seriously injured and taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

The FHP said the driver of the Cadillac left the scene of the crash and is now being sought.  Anyone with further information on the incident or the driver’s whereabouts was asked to contact the FHP.

OCALA, FL – Three people were injured in a multi-vehicle accident in Ocala early Wednesday morning, Ocala Fire Rescue said.

The rescue squad released a Facebook post with details of the incident that occurred at the 5500 block of West Highway 40.

Ocala Fire Rescue’s Engine 4, Rescue 1, Squad 7, Battalion Chief 11, and a Safety Officer were dispatched to the scene at about 6:12 a.m.  They arrived to find three pickup trucks blocking several lanes of traffic – a GNC Sierra that rolled over and was upright, a Ford F-150 with heavy front end damage, and a modified Ford Ranger with a black cab that sustained heavy front and rear damage.

OCALA, FL – A collision on Interstate 75 in Marion County Monday morning slowed traffic for rush-hour commuters, WCJB reports.

The crash occurred on I-75 near mile marker 352 at about 6:45 a.m.   It involved a Ford pickup truck and a semi-truck, and caused one person to be hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.

The wreck shut down all northbound lanes of I-75, resulting in major backups before the interstate reopened about three hours later.

MARION COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a pickup truck driver died following a collision in Marion County Tuesday night, reports WKMG.

The FHP’s crash report said the incident occurred on NE 203rd Avenue Road near County Road 316 at about 9 p.m.  An investigation found that the pickup driver was traveling on NE 203rd Avenue Road when he failed to stop and struck the back of another vehicle.

The pickup driver, a 61-year-old Fort McCoy man, was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital.  No other injuries were reported.

MARION COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a collision at an intersection in Marion County Monday afternoon left an elderly woman dead, WKMG reports.

Two vehicles collided in the area of State Road 35 and Southeast 92nd Loop shortly after 1 p.m. The FHP determined that the driver of an SUV was going at high speed while headed west on Southeast 92nd Loop and went through the red light at the intersection.  The SUV crashed into the side of a sedan that had a green light and was going south.  The driver of the sedan, an 81-year-old woman from Summerfield, died at the scene.

The driver of the SUV, a 37-year-old Fruitland Park man, was hospitalized with minor injuries.

MARION COUNTY, FL – The driver of a pickup truck was killed when his vehicle crashed in Marion County early Wednesday morning.

According to WGFL, the victim was a 27-year-old man who was driving a Dodge pickup west on Southeast 175th Street when the accident occurred at about 12:00 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the man was driving at a high rate of speed and drove off the road onto the south shoulder.  The Dodge crashed into a fence and struck multiple trees.
