MARION COUNTY, FL – The driver of a pickup truck was killed when his vehicle crashed in Marion County early Wednesday morning.

According to WGFL, the victim was a 27-year-old man who was driving a Dodge pickup west on Southeast 175th Street when the accident occurred at about 12:00 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the man was driving at a high rate of speed and drove off the road onto the south shoulder.  The Dodge crashed into a fence and struck multiple trees.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A man has been sentenced to life in prison for causing a fatal crash in Marion County on Nov. 7, 2019, the Ocala StarBanner reports.

The sentence was handed down Monday for 52-year-old Stephen Douglas Lynn of Ocala.   The accident happened at the intersection of County Road 484 and Southeast 36th Avenue.  Authorities said Lynn ws behind the wheel of a pickup truck when he went through a stop light at that location.

The pickup T-boned a Suzuki Vitara driven by 71-year-old Emilio Nunez, who had picked up his two granddaughters from school and was heading home.  Nunez and the two girls, ages 9 and 7, were killed in the wreck.

OCALA, FL – Police and first responders were at the scene of a rollover accident in Ocala on Tuesday morning.

According to a Facebook post by Ocala Fire Rescue, Engine 4, Rescue 4, Squad 7, Battalion Chief 11, and a Safety Officer were dispatched to the scene at the 3900 block of W Silver Springs Boulevard shortly before 7 a.m.

They arrived to find a pickup truck on its roof, a sedan with moderate front-end damage, and the two drivers outside their vehicles.  The driver of the sedan was transported to a hospital for evaluation.  No one else was in the vehicles, and no other injuries were reported.

MARION COUNTY, FL – An accident involving a semitractor-trailer caused massive traffic delays on Interstate 75 in Marion County Tuesday morning, the Bradenton Herald reports.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Freightliner 18-wheeler with an oversized load struck an overpass on I-75 north at Southwest 66th Street/Williams Road near Ocala at about 9:19 a.m.

The driver, a 50-year-old man from Lakeland, was not injured.   The overpass and the northbound lanes of I-75 were shut down and traffic was backed up for miles in both directions.

MARION COUNTY, FL – One person was killed and another injured in an ATV accident in Marion County Saturday night, according to WKMG.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of the ATV crashed into a tree in the area of SW 72nd Circle and SW 148th Place Road shortly before 11:30 p.m.

The driver, a 32-year-old man from Dunnellon, was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.  His passenger, a 48-year-old Dunnellon man, sustained minor injuries.

OCALA, FL – Rescue crews were at the scene of a multi-vehicle accident in Ocala on Monday morning.

In a Facebook post, Ocala Fire Rescue said Engine 1, Rescue 1, Tower 1, Battalion Chief 11, and a Safety Officer were dispatched to the crash at N Pine Avenue and NW 10th Street at about 8:52 a.m.

The first responders found that a red pickup truck, a black sedan, a silver sedan, and a green sedan were all involved in the wreck, with the green sedan rolling over.  All of the occupants were able to get out of their vehicles and there were no significant injuries, rescue officials said.

MARION COUNTY, FL – One person was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle accident in Marion County Friday night, reports WCJB.

The incident happened on Highway 40 in the area of 183rd Avenue Road near Silver Springs at about 7:47 p.m.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the collision involved a Ford sedan, a van and an R.V.  The injured victim was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center, where they were listed in serious condition.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A motorcycle accident in Marion County claimed the life of an area high school student, WGFL reports.

The crash happened on Northwest 100th Avenue last Tuesday morning at about 8:30 a.m.   According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old male was driving a motorcycle north and crossed paths with another vehicle as he merged into the southbound lane.

The motorcyclist was struck by the vehicle and was pronounced dead after being taken to UF Health Shands Hospital.  He was identified as James Wilkerson.

MARION COUNTY, FL –  State troopers said a car accident in Marion County on Tuesday night left two people dead.

A report by WKMG states the crash took place near Ocklawaha, in the area of County Road 464C and SE 99th Place.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a driver crossed over a double yellow line on County Road 464C, went onto the north shoulder, then veered across both travel lanes before going onto the south shoulder and crashing into a tree.

OCALA, FL – Police say an alleged drunk driver was arrested after crashing into a dentist’s office in Ocala early Monday morning.

The Ocala Police Department released details of the incident in a Facebook post. Officers responded to Healthy Smiles Dentistry on SW 10th Street at about 12:30 a.m. after a Chevy Equinox first struck a vehicle in the roadway and then slammed into the building.  No one was injured.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Gabriel Hausy, was spotted fleeing from the officers on foot.  After a brief pursuit, Hausy was detained.
