MARION COUNTY, FL – One person was killed and several others were injured in a collision in Marion County last week, according to Villages-News.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 75-year-old man was driving a Ford Edge west on County Road 42 Wednesday when the vehicle crashed into a Chevrolet Tahoe at about 6:10 p.m.

The Edge driver was pronounced dead at the scene.  A 77-year-old female passenger was critically injured while another 57-year-old passenger was seriously injured, and both were transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.  All three people in the Edge were residents of The Villages.

LEESBURG, FL – A man from North Carolina died last Friday in a multi-vehicle crash in the Leesburg area, WKMG reports.

The crash took place at the intersection of US-27 and Tally Road.

Investigators say a 2019 Lexus swerved into the rear of a 1988 Cadillac, causing the Cadillac to catch fire.

THE VILLAGES, FL – A child was killed and two other individuals were seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash near Wildwood on Saturday evening.

According to a report by Villages-News, the driver of a 2000 Chrysler Caravan lost control of he vehicle on the Florida Turnpike just south of I-75 at about 6:04 p.m. The vehicle then entered the shoulder, where it hit a guardrail, skidded back across the roadway, and struck a tree.

An 11-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 40-year-old Ocala man, and a 71-year-old female passenger were hospitalized in serious condition.

LADY LAKE, FL – Two teens were killed and two others were sent to the hospital following  single-vehicle crash in the Lady Lake area on Sunday afternoon.

According to WESH, the 18-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle near the intersection of Water Oak Boulevard and Teague Trail at about 3:15 a.m. The vehicle then struck a curb, ejecting the driver and one back seat passenger.

The driver and one of the back seat passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. They were not wearing their seatbelts when the incident occurred

THE VILLAGES, FL – A woman was seriously injured after her golf cart crashed into a dog park fence in The Villages on Tuesday.

According to the Villages News, the woman crashed her golf cart into the entrance fences at the Homestead Dog Park in Citrus Grove just south of State Road 44.

She was rushed to a hospital and is reportedly under intensive care.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – A Villages restaurant manager was arrested for crashing into a vehicle and injuring another person near Eustis early Saturday morning.

According to Villages-News, Johnathan James Ritter, 29, was traveling on Lakeview Avenue in Eustis when he crashed into a vehicle around 4:45 a.m.

The woman whose vehicle was hit said that Ritter had swerved into her lane and she tried to maneuver away but was rear-ended. She suffered minor injuries to her shoulder in the crash.

LADY LAKE, FL – A worker was killed after being buried under rubble at the bridge at US Hwy 27/441 on Wednesday. 

According to the Villages News, the construction worker was operating a skid steer loader, commonly known as a Bobcat, when his path was obstructed. He crawled into a hole to investigate the issue when a retaining wall caved in, burying him underneath. 

A rescue effort quickly ensued in an attempt to unearth the man. Emergency personnel worked to remove debris with the help of heavy equipment.

THE VILLAGES, FL – A driver was sent to the hospital following a collision at an intersection just southeast of The Villages on Saturday morning.

According to a report by Villages-News, the crash occurred near the intersection of Micro Racetrack Road and County Road 466A at about 11:45 a.m.

Few details about the crash are available at this time. Photos from the scene show a silver sedan with serious front and rear-end damages blocking the intersection.
