PASCO COUNTY, FL – A truck and an SUV were involved in a fatal collision in Pasco County on Wednesday afternoon, WFTS reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the scene on State Road 52 after the wreck took place shortly before 2 p.m.  The FHP’s investigation determined that a woman was driving west in a Ford Explorer when she made a U-turn.  The Ford crashed into an international cargo truck that was going east on SR-52.  The two vehicles ended up on the outside shoulder of the road.

The Ford driver, a 37-year-old resident of Wesley Chapel, died after being taken to an area hospital.  The truck driver, a 51-year-old man from Orlando, was hospitalized with minor injuries.

CITRUS COUNTY, FL – A single-vehicle wreck in Citrus County on Monday evening claimed the life of a 1-year-old girl, according to a WFTS report.

The fatal crash occurred on North Croft Avenue south of East Ramsey Street in the Inverness Highlands North area just before 7 p.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 32-year-old man was driving a Chrysler 200 north on North Croft Avenue when he lost control of the car and drove off the road.  The vehicle struck a utility pole, a tree and guide wires.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – A motorcycle collision left a man dead and disrupted traffic in a portion of Pasco County on Tuesday afternoon, Fox13News reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the scene along Interstate 75 near the exit to Overpass Road in Wesley Chapel.  State troopers learned a man riding a motorcycle collided with a tractor-trailer near the 281 mile marker at about 11:40 a.m.  The motorcyclist, a 40-year-old man from Webster, died at the scene.

All northbound lanes of I-75 were shut down and traffic was diverted at Exit 279, resulting in backups that stretched for miles.  Drivers were advised to avoid the area until the interstate reopened later in the day.

PASCO COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol released information regarding a collision in Pasco County that claimed the life of a woman in a wheelchair early Saturday morning.

According to WFTS, the fatal accident occurred at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Trouble Creek Road shortly before 1 a.m.  The FHP said the victim was trying to cross U.S. 19 in her wheelchair despite having a red pedestrian traffic signal.  She was struck by a northbound Mercedes sedan that had a green traffic light.

The woman, a 60-year-old resident of New Port Richey, died after being transported to an area hospital.  The driver of the Mercedes was a 46-year-old man from Tampa.

FORT MCCOY, FL – State troopers responded to an intersection in Marion County Friday afternoon after a car and a motorcycle were involved in a deadly collision.

According to the Ocala StarBanner, the crash occurred in the area of Northeast 225th Street and County Road 315 in Fort McCoy.   Traffic homicide investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol learned that the driver of a Toyota Camry was heading north on CR-315 at about 6:10 p.m. and tried to make a left turn onto 225th Street.

The Toyota entered the path of a Suzuki motorcycle going southbound on CR-315, resulting in a collision.  The motorcyclist, a 27-year-old man from Citra, was ejected onto the grassy shoulder of the road and suffered fatal injuries.

OCALA, FL – Crews came to the rescue of a pickup truck driver following a rollover accident in Ocala on Thursday afternoon.

According to a post by Ocala Fire Rescue, first responders were dispatched to the wreck on Southwest Sixth Place at about 1:43 p.m.    The emergency crews arrived to find an SUV upright with three occupants and a pickup truck on its roof with the driver trapped inside.

The rescuers stabilized the overturned pickup, used extrication tools to open the driver’s door, and allowed the driver to safely exit the vehicle.  The driver was taken to an area hospital to be evaluated.  No other injuries were reported.

PASCO COUNTY, FL – A collision in Pasco County on Wednesday afternoon left eight people injured, including six children, according to a WFLA report.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the two-vehicle crash took place at the intersection of U.S. 19 and State Road 52 near Hudson.  The FHP’s investigation found that the driver of a Nissan Cube was going north on U.S. 19 shortly after 11:30 a.m. and did not stop for a red light.  The Nissan collided with another vehicle making a turn onto State Road 52, and the impact caused the Nissan to overturn.

Six children riding in the Nissan, between the ages of 5 and 9, were thrown onto the roadway.  They were transported to area hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening.  The driver of the Nissan, a 33-year-old woman, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.  The driver of the second vehicle, a 42-year-old man from Hudson, suffered minor injuries.

OCALA, FL – Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of a vehicle crash at a home in Ocala on Monday morning.

According to a post by Ocala Fire Rescue at 2:42 p.m., the incident occurred in the 1000 block of NE 14th Street.  Officials said a pickup truck collided with a sedan, causing the sedan to crash through the exterior wall of a home.

Responding rescue crews opened the doors of the vehicles and safely extricated both drivers.  The pickup truck driver was transported to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries.  The home was empty at the time of the incident, and no other injuries were reported.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – A motorcycle accident on State Road 54 in Pasco County claimed the life of a 19-year-old rider, the Suncoast News reports.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the victim of the Sunday morning wreck was a man from New Port Richey.  He was riding eastbound om a Kawasaki motorcycle at about 4:40 a.m. when he lost control of the bike east of Old County Road 54.

The FHP said the motorcyclist traveled to the outside shoulder of the roadway and crashed into a guardrail.  The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

MARION COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal collision that took place in Marion County on Saturday morning, the Ocala StarBanner reported.

State troopers and Marion County Fire Rescue crews were dispatched to the wreck on State Road 40 near County Road 328 shortly before 9 a.m.   An investigation determined that the driver of a Honda Civic was attempting to make a turn from Southwest 113th Circle onto SR-40, crossing the westbound lanes, when the Civic was struck by a westbound Ford F-450 pickup truck hauling a trailer.  Both vehicles came to rest at the grassy median.

The Honda driver, an 81-year-old Ocala man, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The pickup truck driver, a 46-year-old man, was not injured and stayed at the scene.
