HOLIDAY, FL – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Pasco County Saturday night, Pasco News Online reports.

The accident happened in the vicinity of Bonita Road and Shady Cove Road in Holiday at about 11 p.m. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 55-year-old man from Holiday was driving west on Bonita Road when he hit the pedestrian.  The victim, a 64-year-old man from New Port Richey whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation by state troopers.  Anyone with further information about the case was asked to contact the FHP.

HIGH SPRINGS, FL – A rollover car accident in Alachua County on Saturday morning claimed the life of a driver, the Main Street Daily News reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol and first responders were called to the scene in the area of Highway 441 and NW 194th Street near High Springs. The FHP determined that the driver of an SUV was headed north sometime before 9 a.m. when the vehicle went off the roadway, onto the right shoulder, and into a ditch.

The SUV then collided with a culvert and flipped over onto its roof.  The driver, a 46-year-old Old Town woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.  State troopers are investigating the accident, and said the victim was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

SORRENTO, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run incident in Lake County last Wednesday morning that left a bicyclist hospitalized.

According to WKMG, the crash happened on Wolf Branch Road near County Road 437 in Sorrento.  The FHP said a 59-year-old bicycle rider was headed east on Wolf Branch Road at about 4:45 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle going in the same direction.

The victim, a man from Sorrento, was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. The bicycle did have proper lighting, troopers said.

MARION COUNTY, FL – An accident in Marion County Tuesday night claimed the life of a motorcycle rider, WKMG reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene on County Road 464B near NW 157th Court after the crash occurred at about 10:45 p.m.

According to state troopers, a man was riding a motorcycle westbound when he failed to negotiate a curve.  The bike went over the center line, onto a shoulder, and then crashed into a tree.

LAKE DEATON, FL – A man accused of fleeing the scene of a crash in Sumter County earlier this year has been apprehended, the Villages-News reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol identified the suspect as 31-year-old Marcus J. Sims of Leesburg.  The accident happened Jan. 28 on State Road 44 near Lake Deaton.

According to the FHP, Sims was driving a Maserati and racing with an Audi when the vehicles were involved in a crash that also included another vehicle. A 27-year-old woman from Summerfield was injured in the incident.

SUMTER COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the scene of a fatal accident on Interstate 75 in Sumter County Wednesday afternoon, according to WTSP.

The incident took place on I-75 near Sumter County Road 48 in Bushnell, where state troopers arrived shortly after 11 a.m.  The FHP reported that one person was killed when a dump truck crashed into a guardrail at mile marker 314..

The southbound lanes and one northbound lane of I-75 were shut down along a two-mile portion of the roadway, causing traffic delays through the area.

OCALA, FL – A driver was critically injured when his car struck a pole in Marion County Monday morning, WCJB reported.

The incident shut down the southbound lane of Baseline Road and SE 24th Street as first responders and utility crews responded to the situation.

According to investigators, the driver of an SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed at about 9:15 a.m. when he collided with a concrete pole, causing the pole to fall onto the car.

OCALA, FL – First responders were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle accident in Ocala on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a Facebook post by Ocala Fire Rescue, units were dispatched to SW 60th Avenue and SW 38th Street at about 3:50 p.m. after a report of a collision.

A sedan and a pickup truck were found upright with moderate front-end damage while a third vehicle, another pickup truck, was on its side with the driver trapped inside.

DADE CITY, FL – Two pickup trucks were involved in a fatal collision in Pasco County early Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Lutz Patch reported details of the wreck that occurred on St. Joe Road near Robert Barns Road at about 2:50 a.m.  An investigation indicated that a 63-year-old man was driving a pickup truck west when he lost control of the vehicle and entered the eastbound lane.  The pickup collided nearly head-on with another pickup truck that was going east.

The first vehicle overturned and the driver, a Dade City resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle, a 20-year-old Dade City man, and his passenger sustained minor injuries.

SUMTER COUNTY, FL – The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and the Villages Public Safety Department were called to the scene of a car accident on Monday morning, the Villages-News reports.

It happened on County Road 466 near Morse Boulevard at about 9:26 a.m.  Authorities said the driver of an SUV was heading west in the left lane when the vehicle went off the roadway and crashed into a tree in the median.

The airbags deployed and the four occupants of the vehicle escaped injury.  No citations were issued in the incident, the sheriff’s office said.
